- The Letters of Paul
What it is
Titus has been left on Crete to appoint elders in every town and get newly planted churches into working order, against teachers Paul has no patience for at all. It is short, practical, and contains one famously rude quotation of a Cretan poet about Cretans.
Known for
2:11–14, the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation. 3:4–7, the washing of regeneration.
A note for Orthodox readers
The language of God’s appearing in 2:11 and 3:4 is the language of Theophany, and these passages are read around the Nativity and Theophany season.
Where it sits
One of the Pastorals, disputed on the same grounds.
