There are two things going on here, and they are worth separating.
The first: an Orthodox resource anyone can check
Most of what circulates about Orthodoxy online is second-hand, and a good deal of it was never checked by anyone. Beautiful stories get repeated until they harden into facts. Dates drift. A saint's life acquires details nobody can trace.
This site is built the other way round. The calendar is computed from the Church's own reckoning rather than copied from another site. The saints' lives name their sources, tell the difficult parts, and stop where the record stops rather than filling the gap with a plausible paragraph. The articles end in the sources they were built from. Where a well-loved story turns out not to be true, the site says so.
That is slower and less impressive than the alternative, and it is the whole point. It also means the site can be wrong, and would rather be told.
The second: a parish with no church
St Porphyrios Orthodox Mission is in Clayton, Ontario, west of Ottawa — a parish of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. It has a congregation. It does not have a building.
That sentence is smaller than the reality. A mission without a building works around other people's schedules. It sets up and packs away. It cannot simply be open — not for a weekday service, not for someone who wants to sit in the quiet, not for the person who walks past and wonders. Everything else a parish is for waits on the room.
Where the money actually goes
Every royalty from all three volumes goes to the building fund. Not a share of them. Not the profits after costs. The royalties.
That line is printed on the back cover of each book, where a buyer sees it before they decide — set small and plain, as a fact rather than a pitch. It is repeated here because this is the page where someone might reasonably ask.
How to help, in order of usefulness
Give to the mission directly. A gift reaches the building fund straight away, nothing passes through this site, and nothing is taken out along the way. This is by some distance the most useful thing anyone can do, and it is worth saying that plainly even though it sells no books.
Buy a book, or three. A royalty at a time, and you get something for it. There are fifteen complete weeks free to read first, so nobody has to buy anything unseen.
Tell somebody. A mission parish grows by word of mouth and very little else. So does a website with no advertising budget. If one of these pages was useful, sending it to one person who would find it useful is worth more than it sounds.
Come, if you are near. The mission is at 2786 Tatlock Road, Clayton, Ontario. Anyone can come and nobody will make you do anything.
What this site will not do
It carries no advertising and it never will. It does not track you, sell anything about you, or ask for your email before letting you read something. There is no account to make.
It is also not a parish, and it is not spiritual direction. It can tell you what the Orthodox Church teaches and where that comes from. It cannot tell you what your rule of prayer should be, how you should fast, or how you would be received — those belong to a priest who knows you. Every page that touches them says so.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, say so. It reaches a person, not a queue, and corrections get made rather than quietly absorbed.
